Forelimb focus for CPD day

Details of veterinary rehabilitation day announced

Details of the annual CPD meeting of the British Veterinary Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Association (BVRSMA) have recently been announced.

The day will focus on the forelimb, and is open to both vets and vet nurses, as well as physiotherapists from the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy (ACPAT).

As veterinary rehabilitation is under increasing demand, and many vets and vet nurses are keen to learn more about it, BVRSMA is bringing together a range of animal health professionals to share perspective and knowledge on the subject.

The veterinary rehabilitation event is also hoped to develop understanding of the myriad of techniques available and how and when each one should be applied.

Speakers throughout the day will include lead orthopaedic specialist Noel Fitzpatrick, as well as specialist rehabilitation vet and current president of the BVRSMA, Lowri Davies. There will also be practical sessions run by ACPAT physiotherapists.

BVRSMA member Tasmin O’Brian, who is a vet at the SMART Clinic, a rehabilitation referral centre, has organised the CPD event.

"The day is designed to make people think outside the box a little and give a fresh perspective on lameness and rehabilitation," she said. "Attendees should take away something that really will help them every day in practice".

Taking place on October 2 in Quedgeley, Gloucestershire, the CPD meeting will cost £60 for non-members and £80 for members.

Building Great Workplaces webinars return

 BVA has announced a new series of its Building Great Workplaces lunchtime webinars.

Launching from 16 July, the sessions will explore patient safety, motivation, client communication and more.

Its first webinar, exploring neurodiversity in the workplace, will take place at 1pm on Thursday, 16 July. It will feature guest speakers from The Vet Project, a group which supports neurodiversity in veterinary environments.

The following three webinars take place in September, October and November.

New form for online veterinary medicines retailers

The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) has produced a new online form for retailers wishing to sell veterinary medicines on the internet.

The form replace the previous Word version and is part of the VMD's ongoing commitment to digitise its processes. Anyone retailing prescription medicines online, including POM-V, POM-VPS and NFA-VPS categories, is lawfully required to register with the VMD before trading.

The change only applies to new applicants. Retailers already listed on the VMD's Register of Online Retailers or registered under the Accredited Internet Retailer Scheme (AIRS) do not need to do anything.
