Heart of PBB Awards 2013 calls for nominations

Canine charity Pet Blood Bank UK (PBB UK) will recognise and celebrate the achievements of those who help the charity continue to collect and supply lifesaving blood with the Heart of PBB Awards 2013.

This year’s awards for fundraising and volunteering will also include an award for Host Venue, recognising the generous supporters who provide a venue for canine blood donor sessions across the UK.

Winners of the Heart of PBB Awards will be announced on the charity’s seventh birthday in March, 2014.

Katrina Wilkinson from PBB UK explains: “After the successful launch of the Heart of PBB Awards last year, we felt it was time to introduce a third category to celebrate the role our host venues play in helping us to collect vital blood supplies for thousands of canines in need across the UK.

“The Host Venue award sits perfectly alongside our volunteering and fundraising categories, with all three enabling us to show our gratitude to our supporters and allowing us to acknowledge the tremendous work they carry out on our behalf.

“They and our canine donors and owners are the Heart of PBB UK and The Heart of PBB Awards allows us to celebrate this. We are looking forward to reviewing the nominations and announcing the winners in March 2014.”

The three award winners will be selected by the charity’s trustees and will be presented with an engraved Heart of PBB Award and vouchers as a token of appreciation.

Last year’s winners included Alison Waggott, who runs a rescue greyhound kennels, who won the Volunteering Category. Kate James and Brian Hildick-Smith, both veterinary surgeons, raised more than £5,800 for PBB UK by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, and won the Fundraising Award.

PBB UK supporters were able to enter for all three awards via the PBB UK website at www.petbloodbank.org.uk from October 23, 2013.
