Special festival marks 100 years since Winnie's arrival at London Zoo
London Zoo will dedicate a weekend to Winnie the Pooh related activities this summer, in honour of the world's most famous black bear, who inspired the classic tales 100 years ago.
A mascot for the Canadian regiment, Winnie arrived at the zoo at the beginning of World War One. She was frequently visited by author A.A Milne, who immortalised her in his beloved children's tales.
In honour of Winnie, London Zoo will hold a unique exhibition featuring the books' original illustrations from Friday 29 to August 31 this year.
A number of other themed activities will be going on during the weekend, including a Teddy Bears' Picnic with prizes for the most adventurous and most well travelled bear.
