New leaders elected for RUMA
Catherine McLaughlin paid tribute to the "transformational" leadership of former chair Gwyn Jones.

Ambitious team to take over following handover period

The Responsible Use of Medicines in Agriculture Alliance (RUMA) has announced the appointment of Catherine McLaughlin as its new chair, to lead alongside new deputy chair Dawn Howard.

Ms McLaughlin – who is also chief animal health and welfare adviser for the NFU and a director of the Animal Medicines Training Regulatory Authority (AMTRA) – commented on the ever-emerging challenges facing the UK livestock industry in a rapidly-evolving climate.

"Steering the livestock sectors through this will continue to be RUMA’s remit,” she said. “I look forward to bringing my knowledge and experience – alongside that of my new deputy chair Dawn, the members of the RUMA board and the Independent Scientific Group – to help the livestock industries face these challenges.”

New deputy chair Dawn Howard, is also the chief executive of NOAH. She said: “I hope my extensive international contacts in the field of animal health will build new relationships and allow us to learn from good practice globally.”
