Update on The Kennel Club Ukraine appeal
The Trust is hoping to reach the next milestone of £250,00 raised.
The campaign has raised £228,000 so far.

The Kennel Club Charitable Trust's fundraising appeal, set up in response to the war in Ukraine, has raised £228,000 so far.

Set up to support dogs and their owners affected by the conflict, the appeal has been supported by The Kennel Club, community groups, dog shows and dog lovers across the country.

On the Trust's website, it said: “We wish to support those dogs and their breeders and owners from Ukraine, who are in need, and have set up a special appeal for donations that will be sent to the FCI (Federation Cynologique Internationale), which is in a position to help via its network of kennel clubs in Ukraine and neighbouring countries.”

Of the £228,000 raised so far, £130,000 has already been sent to Ukraine, and is being used on the ground immediately. The Trust is now hoping to reach the next milestone in the campaign, and raise over £250,000.

The campaign was further boosted when Vernon and Shirley Hill, long-term supporters of the trust, donated $100,000 (approximately £76,000) to the appeal.

Commenting on their generous donation, Mr Hill said:   “As dog owners ourselves, to our beloved Yorkshire Terrier, Sir Duffield, we are heartbroken to see the terrible pictures of dogs and their owners  escaping the terrors in Ukraine - picture that show that amid the worst times, the love and loyalty people feel for their pets, endures.

“We want to make a difference and try to support dogs and their owners at this difficult time, and we encourage others to join us.”

Details of the campaign, along with how to donate, can be found here.
