Experts to debate the future of veterinary medicines marketing
The VMA debate at the House of Lords will explore the challenges facing animal health marketers.

VMA to host annual discussion in the House of Lords.

The future of veterinary medicines marketing will go under the spotlight at the 2022 Veterinary Marketing Association (VMA) debate in the House of Lords.

Taking place in the Palace of Westminster (15 June), the annual event will see delegates discuss and debate topics including:

  • the challenges facing the supply of POM-V medicines to Northern Ireland
  • the challenges of ensuring existing/new/innovative products
  • sustainability for animal health marketers.

Speakers will include Dawn Howard, chief executive of the National Office of Animal Health; Simon Doherty, director of Vet Sustain; Marian Boss, interim head of the legislation and enforcement officer at the Veterinary Medicines Directorate; and Roshan Kapoor from WeAreMBC.

The VMA is the representative body for members working in all areas of the animal health industry and the veterinary profession interested in the promotion of products, services or health and welfare information.

The event is suitable for all animal health marketers and will culminate with a prosecco reception and four-course lunch in the surrounds of The Terrace beside the River Thames. For more information, visit vma.org.uk

New form for online veterinary medicines retailers

The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) has produced a new online form for retailers wishing to sell veterinary medicines on the internet.

The form replace the previous Word version and is part of the VMD's ongoing commitment to digitise its processes. Anyone retailing prescription medicines online, including POM-V, POM-VPS and NFA-VPS categories, is lawfully required to register with the VMD before trading.

The change only applies to new applicants. Retailers already listed on the VMD's Register of Online Retailers or registered under the Accredited Internet Retailer Scheme (AIRS) do not need to do anything.
