White Reindeer brings Festive Cheer
'Snowy' - c/o North News and Pictures Ltd
Whitby garden centre delighted after birth of extremely rare all-white reindeer.

The Victoria Farm Garden Centre of Whitby has been breeding reindeer for many years, but the birth of a rare all-white reindeer six months ago was entirely unexpected. The reindeer, nicknamed 'Snowy', is the result of an extremely rare one in 10,000 mutation.

“We have bred reindeer for years, but have never known anything like this to have happened before.” said Mark Noble, 44, one of the owners of Victoria Farm Garden Centre.

'We feel very lucky to have Snowy, and we were delighted when we discovered her in one of the fields on our farm.”

'Our visitors absolutely love her. She is the cutest little thing and she has made us all very happy.”

Snowy has proven an extremely popular attraction at the Garden Centre and the local children are said to be delighted at the sight of her. However, due to the natural shyness of reindeer, they have not been able to pet Snowy.

'Snowy', however, is only a temporary name and the general public are invited to suggest a permanent name.
