RVC wins Times Higher Education Award
Accepting the Award
'Most Improved Student Experience' award goes to RVC.

This year's Times Higher Education award for 'Most Improved Student Experience' in a UK Higher Education Institution has gone to the Royal Veterinary College (RVC).

14,000 full-time undergraduates across the UK took part in this year's poll in which they were asked to evaluate the performance of their university or college with regard to 21 different categories. The RVC's total score improved by 8.1 points, which raised it in the overall rankings by 37 positions.

The responses indicated that particular progress had been made in facilities available to students, the general atmosphere on campus and the university's support for students. Marked improvements in the scores for lecturers were also evident, with students responding with high ratings to both the quality of teaching and the level of interest the staff showed in students.

Principal of the RVC Stuart Reid and President of the Student Union Kay McAllister accepted the award at the THE's Awards Ceremony Gala Dinner in the London Grosvenor House Hotel on November 24th 2011. It was presented by the comedian Rob Brydon and sponsored by Campus Living Villages.

Vice-Principal for Academic and Clinical Affairs David Church said the award was 'great recognition for all the hard work that has been put in by both our staff across the college and also our Student Union to ensure that our students have a really outstanding experience during their time with us'.

The rescue centre has seen a dramatic increase in dogs coming into its care, and is currently caring for over 200 dogs. With rising costs and dropping temperatures, the charity is calling for urgent support.

It costs the charity £6,000 per day to continue its work.

Fi Harrison, head of fundraising and communications, said: "It's heart-breaking for our team to see the conditions some dogs arrive in. We really are their last chance and hope of survival."
