Voting for RCVS elections underway
RCVS and VN Council seats contested

Elections for seats on the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Council and VN Council have begun and all RCVS members eligible to do so are reminded to cast their vote without delay. Votes may be cast online, by post, or by text no later than 5pm on Friday 27th April 2012.

There are fourteen candidates standing for six places on the RCVS Council while there are notably less for the VN Council: only three candidates are contesting two places.

That the contest for seats on the RCVS Council has attracted so many candidates indicates a greater interest in the governance of the RCVS, although the same cannot be said for the VN Council.

All contact details, biographies and candidate manifestos are available from the RCVS website. Each candidate will also be interviewed by MRCVS.co.uk and the responses published early next week.

The candidates for the RCVS Council are as follows:

RCVS annual renewal fee for vets due

RCVS' annual renewal fee for veterinary surgeons is now due. Vets must pay their renewal fee before Wednesday, 1 April 2026.

This year's standard annual fee has increased to 431 from last year's 418. This is an approximately three per cent increase, as approved by RCVS Council and the Privy Council.

Tshidi Gardner, RCVS treasurer, said: "The small fee increase will be used to help deliver both our everyday activities and our new ambitious Strategic Plan, which includes aims such as achieving new legislation, reviewing the Codes of Professional Conduct and supporting guidance, and continuing to support the professions through activities such as the Mind Matters Initiative, RCVS Academy and career development."

A full breakdown of the new fees is on the RCVS website. Information about tax relief is available on the UK government website.
