RSPCA calls for votes in 2012 National Council election
Six nominees for five seats

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) has invited all members to cast their votes in the upcoming elections to the RSPCA National Council. Fifteen Council Members are elected for three year terms of office and are replaced on a rotational basis, thus leading an election in which five vacancies which are being contested by six candidates.

The nominees are:

  • Mrs Margaret Baker
  • Mrs Christine Beaumont Kerridge
  • Mr David Canavan
  • Mr Kenneth Instone
  • Nr David Mawson
  • Ms Jane Tredgett

Voting will close on Tuesday 12th June 2012 at 3pm, and the results will be announced at the RSPCA's Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday 30th June 2012. RSPCA members may vote by post or online, and information on how to apply for admissions tickets to the AGM can be found here.

RUMA CA&E extends survey deadline

 RUMA CA&E has extended the deadline for its online survey into vaccine availability.

Vets, SQPs, retailers and wholesalers will now have until Friday, 26 September at 5pm to submit their response.

The survey aims to further understanding into the vaccine supply challenges faced by the sector. It will also consider the short and long term impacts of disruption issues.

Insights are anonymous, and will be shared with industry stakeholders and government bodies.

Dechra launches checklist for veterinary sustainability

Global animal health specialist Dechra has announced the world's first Veterinary Green Theatre Checklist (VGTC) to help make surgery more sustainable.

Endorsed by leading veterinary organisations, including the BEVA, BVNA and RCVS Knowledge, the checklist is designed to reduce the environmental footprint of veterinary care, while supporting better animal health outcomes.

The checklist was launched at the World Congress of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia in Paris and will be followed by an internal training and awareness campaign. For more information, visit dechra.com
