Lantra announces equine dental developments
Standards for equine dental technicians underway

An invitation has been publicised for all areas of the equine and veterinary sector to participate in the National Occupational Standards for Equine Dental Technicians, from Lantra.

Input from individuals and organisations representing equine welfare, veterinary and equine dental care as well as equine dental technicians themselves, are vital to the accuracy of the NOS to ensure they reflect today’s working practices. NOS describe what workers need to do, know and understand in order to carry out their job role in a consistent and competent way and promote equine health and welfare.   NOS are important because they provide the foundation to build qualifications that reflect best practice.

Lantra’s Partnership Manager, Lisa Jarvis RVN, said: “We are really pleased that industry reached an agreement to develop NOS, which identify the detailed knowledge, understanding, ability and experiences somebody needs to carry out their job effectively. In this next positive step to move their development forward, we are calling for all interested parties to take part in our consultation and ensure that they are driven by the welfare of horses.”

To register your interest in being involved in these NOS please email standards.qualifications@lantra.co.uk under the subject Equine Technicians NOS.
