London Vet Show comes to a close
Day two draws to an end for annual show

The second and final day at London Vet Show 2012 will soon be ending, as exhibitors begin to pack away their stands and CPD sessions draw to a close.

Thousands of veterinary surgeons and professionals have attended the fourth annual event, at London's Olympia Grand Hall, with networking and training opportunities in abundance.

The Royal Veterinary College (RVC) provided three streams of clinical programmes throughout the two days, with today's talks including 'Saving sight - when to treat and when to refer', 'Tips for developing a cat-friendly practice - more than just avoiding big dogs' and 'Antimicrobial therapy in dentistry - if, when and where?'.

Delegates have been able to attend a line-up of business lectures, sponsor-led seminars, practical workshops, and education sessions - ran by various associations - at the show, alongside the RVC clinical programmes.

Aside from CPD, hundreds of exhibitors have been promoting their charities, products and services for the duration of the show, enabling veterinary professionals to speak-one-to one with sales consultants and learn more about the organisations first hand.

It is true to say that - with bags bursting with information - both delegates and exhibitors will take something away from this valuable event.

We shall look forward to London Vet Show 2013.

RCVS annual renewal fee for vets due

RCVS' annual renewal fee for veterinary surgeons is now due. Vets must pay their renewal fee before Wednesday, 1 April 2026.

This year's standard annual fee has increased to 431 from last year's 418. This is an approximately three per cent increase, as approved by RCVS Council and the Privy Council.

Tshidi Gardner, RCVS treasurer, said: "The small fee increase will be used to help deliver both our everyday activities and our new ambitious Strategic Plan, which includes aims such as achieving new legislation, reviewing the Codes of Professional Conduct and supporting guidance, and continuing to support the professions through activities such as the Mind Matters Initiative, RCVS Academy and career development."

A full breakdown of the new fees is on the RCVS website. Information about tax relief is available on the UK government website.
