A new survey has been launched to gain a deeper understanding of the public's knowledge of canine toxins.
Simran Tanda, a veterinary nurse student at the University of Bristol, is conducting the research as part of her dissertation. The survey takes a couple of minutes to complete and aims to improve current resources on toxins and ultimately reduce the number of accidental poisoning cases.

Registration has opened for animal welfare charity Battersea's annual 'Muddy Dog Challenge'. The fundraising challenge, which can be undertaken as a 2.5km or 5km obstacle course, will see participants run through a variety of exciting obstacles. These include the bubble tunnel the doggy day spa and the ball pit bath.
The course can be ran or walked, and anyone interested is encouraged to take the challenge with or without a dog. Battersea is seeking both participants and volunteers for the events, and all money raised will go towards the charity's rescue and rehoming mission. Veterinary nurses are being invited to join a free event in Manchester looking at 'innovative solutions for itchy pets'.
Hosted by the Veterinary Nurse Dermatology Group, participants will learn more about the field of dermatology and gain valuable new skills. Lidiia Alaverdova DVM, founder of Vet Reflections will lead the session, and veterinary nurses will learn how to apply design thinking within a dermatology clinic.

Nominations for the prestigious 2022 World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) Awards have been announced, with free registration and travel to the WSAVA World Congress in Peru for the recipients.
Nominations are invited in the following categories: The WSAVA Award for Companion Animal Welfare, The WSAVA Future Leader Award, The WSAVA Award for Global Meritorious Service, and the WSAVA Award for Scientific Achievement.

Tickets are now on sale for the 2022 BVNA Congress, which takes place at the Telford International Centre, 7-9 October.
Taking place as a hybrid event, this year's Congress promises to be more inclusive and accessible, with super-early tickets providing access to new features and special events alongside the main scientific programme.

VET Festival, the unique CPD opportunity, is returning for 2022, running from 20 to 21 May.
The outdoor event, held at Loseley Park in Guildford, will feature 17 education streams, with a dedicated stream covering veterinary wellness, leadership and management topics. The festival will feature veterinary speakers from around the world, with the opportunity to collect 14 hours of CPD across the two-day event.
Alongside veterinary education, VET Festival will also offer wellbeing activities such as yoga and mindfulness activities, with the popular VETFest Live Party Night making a return for 2022.

Applications have now opened for RCVS Fellowship 2022. The RCVS is encouraging anyone who would like to be considered for Fellowship to apply, and if successful, they will be welcomed into the Fellowship next year.
The process for joining the fellowship has changed slightly for this year, as applicants will now need two signed referee forms instead of three professional references, and five assessors will review each application instead of three.
The deadline for applications is 14 February 2022, and more information on how to apply can be found here. If applicants have any questions, or would like informal advice from previous successful applicants, they are encouraged to contact Ceri Via Email

Taking place at noon on Tuesday, October 19, the webinar will explore the role of veterinary professionals in leading on animal welfare, the leadership competencies required of all veterinary professionals, and the effects of leadership style on teams.
The webinar, which ends with a Q&A session, will be moderated be WSAVA President Dr Siraya Chunekamrai and led by Veterinary Management Group President Richard Casey. For more information and to access the event, click here.

The survey will remain open until 5 pm on Thursday, 30 September, and the results will be made available in October. AnimalCare will select one respondent at random to receive a £50 Amazon voucher.

A webinar to help veterinary professionals communicate more effectively with their clients is set to be hosted by the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA).

The judges have been revealed for the BVA Young Vet of the Year Award 2021, ahead of the 1 September entry deadline. The judging panel for this year consists of BVA junior vice president Justine Shotton, RCVS president Kate Richards, companion animal lead for Zoetis in the UK Edwina Gildea, and the recipient of the BVA Young Vet of the Year Award 2020 Fabian Rivers.
The award recognises early career vets who are making valuable contributions across the profession, animal welfare, and the wider community. The recipient will receive 1000, alongside a mentoring opportunity with Zoetis, with all three shortlisted finalists receiving a free ticket to the London Vet Show.
